Why are calamari so popular?

Calamari have been reigning on Istrian plates for decades, cherished by both locals and visitors. Their tender flesh and versatility in the kitchen allow for countless interpretations: grilled, fried, stuffed, in pasta, or baked – each version has its devoted fans.

Did you know that calamari can swim up to 40 km/h? It’s no wonder they often “disappear” quickly from the plate in the kitchen!

The hallmark of Adriatic calamari is their freshness and full flavor – they are caught in the clean, clear waters of the Adriatic and prized for their premium quality. While the global market is often flooded with frozen calamari from distant seas, Adriatic calamari impress with their delicate texture and distinctive taste. They are a true culinary delight, recognizable from the very first bite.
